Aidora Aura AI 3D Frame Arrives with a Familiar Approach to Spatial Photos

The recently announced Aidora Aura AI 3D Frame enters a category that already has established products, most notably the MemoryCube 3D AI Frame. Rather than introducing a fundamentally new concept, Aidora Aura follows a very similar formula: using AI to convert conventional 2d photos into glasses-free 3D images displayed on a dedicated frame.

Similar feature set

At a high level, the Aidora Aura and the MemoryCube 3D AI Frame offer nearly the same core experience.

Both devices use AI-based depth estimation to generate a depth map from a single photograph, allowing them to synthesize a stereoscopic image that creates the perception of depth without requiring glasses. The goal is the same in both cases: making existing photo libraries appear more immersive without requiring users to capture images with a dedicated 3D camera.

Like MemoryCube, Aidora Aura focuses on converting legacy 2d content rather than relying on native spatial photography. This approach helps address one of the biggest barriers to consumer 3D displays—the lack of compatible content. However, these are also bad news for stereoscopic photographers, who achieve outstanding depth and image quality through their own skill and creativity; With these AI frames, the final result is determined by the frame itself rather than the photographer’s artistic vision.

Aidora Aura also follows a commercialization strategy already seen with several recent spatial display products. Like MemoryCube and other consumer-oriented 3D devices, it launched through Kickstarter, targeting early adopters interested in AI-powered imaging and glasses-free 3D displays.

The emphasis on AI-generated depth, automatic image conversion, and simple plug-and-play operation closely mirrors the positioning of MemoryCube, suggesting that a common design approach for consumer spatial photo frames is beginning to emerge.

Technology

Both products rely on recent advances in monocular depth estimation, where AI models infer scene geometry from a single image.

Unlike the MemoryCube, Aidora does not include eye tracking. Whether this is an advantage or a drawback compared to MemoryCube will depend on the viewing tolerance of its glasses-free lenticular display and how easily users can maintain the optimal viewing position.

While implementation details may differ, the underlying technology and intended user experience are broadly comparable across both devices. Granted, the Aidora includes a built-in voice assistant, but with virtually everyone already carrying a smartphone with a more capable assistant—one that follows you wherever you go and doesn’t depend on being connected to another device—this feature feels largely redundant.

A key difference is that Aidora seems designed to be used only in portrait orientation, as there are a big brand logo that will look weird if using the frame in landscape orientation. In MemoryCube you can choose to upload photos and videos in landscapre or portrait, and the frame doesn’t have any text or logos that suggest an orientation.

Conclusion

The introduction of Aidora Aura is less a sign of a completely new product category than further evidence that AI-powered 3D photo frames are gaining traction. With MemoryCube already on the market, Aidora Aura appears to be another entrant offering a largely similar combination of AI photo conversion and glasses-free spatial viewing, giving consumers more options within an emerging but increasingly well-defined segment.
