Spatial Computing updates: 3D movies in Android XR, Real Madrid’s Bernabeu as never seen before

UPDATE: Neumann and AMBEO introduce the Neumann VIS platform for immersive audio workflows on Apple Vision Pro, allowing intuitive spatial mixing.

In recent weeks, spatial computing has seen several exciting advancements, including new content formats and broader hardware availability. The most notable updates come from Android XR systems, Apple’s immersive media offerings, and the continued international rollout of Apple Vision Pro.

3D Movie Rentals Arrive on Android XR

A major milestone for Android XR users is the ability to rent 3D movies directly through the Google TV app. Titles such as “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” “Star Trek Beyond,” and “Hugo” can now be experienced in full 3D on compatible Android XR headsets. This development marks an important step forward for Android in catching up with Apple Vision Pro’s extensive 3D catalog, offering immersive entertainment experiences with 3D video content. The exact technical details (like 4K HDR support and geographic availability) are still emerging, but this is a significant leap for Google’s immersive media ecosystem. Both Apple’s and Google’s ecosystems supports the highest quality standard: MV-HEVC.

This is the current 46 titles list, even when Vision Pro have 309 3D movies available (most on Apple iTunes Store, only few are available from Disney+), it is impressive how many titles are available in the first month of Android XR, bravo, Google!:

Apple’s Immersive Documentary at the Bernabéu

Another highlight in spatial computing comes from Apple’s collaboration with Real Madrid, resulting in an immersive documentary filmed inside the iconic Santiago Bernabéu stadium. This exclusive production leverages over 30 specialized cameras to capture a Champions League night in stunning 8K, 180-degree 3D format with spatial audio. Designed specifically for Apple Vision Pro, the documentary allows viewers to feel as if they are present in the stadium, including behind-the-scenes moments from the locker room and media areas. The project demonstrates Apple’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling and is set for release in 2026.

Shot during Real Madrid’s 1–0 victory over Juventus on Oct. 22. “Apple and Real Madrid are working together on a project I’ve been pursuing for many years: to allow any fan to experience the excitement of the Bernabéu as if they were right here in the stadium,”… “It will be like opening the stadium doors to the entire planet, without limits, without barriers, and with a technological quality that will mark a before and after in the world of sports.”.

Perhaps this means that at least some Real Madrid matches will be live streamed in the Apple Immersive format on the Vision Pro, like select Los Angeles Lakers games will be this season. However, the specific plans remain to be seen. In related news, Apple celebrated 40 years of operating in Spain by hosting a live performance at its Puerta del Sol store in Madrid.

Vision Pro Reaches More Countries

Apple’s Vision Pro headset, which serves as a flagship for spatial computing, has expanded its availability. This week, Vision Pro pre-orders began in South Korea and Taiwan, bringing the total number of countries to 13. The growing international reach underscores Apple’s efforts to make advanced spatial computing platforms accessible to more users worldwide. Countries now offering the headset include Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the UAE, the UK, and the US.

It’s worth noting that Apple currently has around 600 job openings related to Spatial Computing — a strong sign that Vision Pro is part of a long-term strategy that is only beginning to accelerate.

These developments collectively highlight how the spatial computing landscape is rapidly evolving—with richer content, improved accessibility, and new ways for users to interact with immersive digital experiences.
