Meet StereoPi v2. Make your custom device with 3D camera

StereoPi is an open-source stereoscopic camera based on Raspberry Pi. It can capture, save, livestream, and process real-time stereoscopic video and images. StereoPi opens up countless possibilities in robotics, AR/VR, computer vision, drone instrumentation, panoramic video, and more.

StereoPi v2 is an improvement of the previous generation which helped a lot of creators to create exciting projects. StereoPi v1 still helps thousands of makers to do their first steps in stereoscopic photo, video, VR experiments, and run a lot of exciting robotics experiments, and with the gained feedback StereoPi is improving previous design to expand the possibilities.

You can choose between several kits with more or less components to adapt to your needs

There are kits for both novice and experienced Arduino creators. For those they want to have their own Stereoscopic 3D camera there’s a kit with everything they need to making 3D photos directly, including an IPS screen (unfortunately is not lenticular nor 3D) and a shutter button to make the captures without any need to use a PC. There’s also the possibility to control the StereoPi with a easy web interface through another device (wired or wirelessly).

Web interface to control almost everything.

This new version allows to power the system with several options: USB-C (allowing to use a portable battery), internal connectors, or even Ethernet. The included Raspberry Pi 4 gets power from the same source. And there’s an optional Compute Module that adds more computing power and memory, advanced wi-fi control, bluetooth 5.0, and fast eMMC.

Advanced creators can send command lines to the system. There are already exciting creations made with the first version of StereoPi. Thanks to OpenCV there are a lot of robots with environment-awareness, or even an awesome drone with computer vision and adjustable stereo-base! This amazing drone can detect and avoid obstacles by itself thanks to depth calculations.

You can help to make this project a reality on Crowdsupply. You can get the most complete kit (the Camera Kit) for only $169. A 3D camera for less than $200? A 3D camera for this price is a dream, but you can also decide which stereo base do you need when mounting it (or adjustable if you’re crafty enough), so this is a dream come true for any 3D photographer. Is even cheaper for those who want to use for computer vision (only $49 the basic kit).
