3D: The initial scene was so impressive in 3D that the audience applauded with excitement. That was something we have never seen before at the beginning of a movie. The 3D quality of that scene is far superior to anything in the Jurassic Park/World films. After seeing the first scene, the rest of the movie feels weaker, but it isn’t, depth is enjoyable and makes a better appreciation of scale. The Meg 2 was made with 3D in mind, notably better than the first movie, and this is arguably the best way to watch the movie as it offers a fun, immersive glimpse into the underwater world of giant sharks.
4DX: The 4DX effects weren’t remarkable, except for the water. In the multitude of scenes where water is coming into the camera, the spectators feel the water skids at the precise moment. However, aside from the water effects, there is no significant enhancement to the experience. At least, it is not as noteworthy as other films. You feel the impact of hits, but images are more impactful than movement.
