Cinemas, restaurants, and malls have been closed for some weeks. Rightfully so, as health, safety and trepidations of spreading COVID-19 transcend any benefits of social gatherings. With the rise of streaming services and online content, the pandemic worries cinema owners, filmmakers and avid cinemagoers never like before.
Cinemas are opening again with same movies that were available at March. Before restrictions, Disney Pixar’s animation “Onward” was by far the most popular film, with a good 3D release, but at reopening, most cinemas are only selling 2d tickets, not even offering any 3D session.
We, 3D enthusiasts, we have the responsibility to claim to cinema chains for selling 3D tickets again. This pandemic can’t be the excuse for throwing away 3D movies. Demand 3D tickets.
Of course, cinemas will have less visitors than pre-pandemic times. But this is an opportunity, if 3D enthusiasts claim and keep going to 3D sessions the percentage of 3D tickets sold will increase respect 2d tickets, compared with last year numbers. This will help exhibitors to not lose even more customers. Of course, we have to follow simple and easy recommendations, use the hand sanitizers at the very entrance of the projection room, seats will be already disinfected, so you can eat and watch the movie normally as before.
